Use Stories to Enhance Your Important Messages

It doesn’t matter what message you are trying to send or to whom, it will be much more powerful if you can use a story as illustration.

This is a basic of sales presentation training…if you are trying to persuade, give your audience a word picture of why they should listen to your core message and follow your call to action.

Just think of the visuals that have entered the language that express for us now in a few words a whole story or feeling: a glass half empty or half full, letting go of the burden of stress, the ugly duckling that became a swan. Think of your own life experiences and find one that will illustrate the point you are trying to make. Are there people you have met along the way that inspired you? Perhaps you had to learn a lesson the hard way and are better for it? Maybe you witnessed a special event that is relevant?

Stories influence. Stories are remembered. Make your story one that counts.
