The
content of your presentation is up to you. Craft it well. But beware…even if
you have designed a clear, compelling message, it will be lost on your audience
if your delivery is poor.
Review
these 4 tips from sales presentation training professionals. Practice to
improve your delivery style and then your content will have a chance to
persuade and move your listeners.
- Slow down. You are not in a race to the finish. Speak slowly so that your audience can follow you.
- Vary your tone and maintain your volume. Add some inflection to your voice rather than speaking in a boring monotone. And don’t let your volume decrease as you reach the ends of your sentences.
- Eliminate the “fillers.” “Ums” and “ers” do not belong in a speech designed to impress your audience. They undermine your credibility. And besides, pregnant pauses capture attention.
- Know what you want to say. It happens…written scripts get lost and teleprompters fail. Be sure you have the outline of your presentation comfortably in mind so you can speak without notes if necessary.
