Want to Present Better? Be Your Own Best Critic

The prospect of presenting in front of a large group or even a single executive is difficult for the majority of us. Even the most experienced of presenters can get cold feet and stumble in their delivery. Accept the fact that your presentation will not be perfect…but then determine to be your own best critic and look to improve your delivery over time.

Follow the recommended discipline of sales presentation training instructors:

  1. As soon as you can afterward, review your presentation…in video if possible. You will no doubt find places where you can improve transitions, sharpen your core message, add a visual for clarity, insert that point you forgot to make, and give your audience a break at that section where their attention was lagging.
  1. Write down your self-observations.
  1. Incorporate these improvements into your next presentation.
  1. Practice and get feedback.
The presentation is over and there is a sense of relief...sure. But you know there will be more in your future. Get a grip and set yourself up for an even smoother presentation next time.
