If you
really want your audience to “come to the party” ready to listen and be on your
side, send them a well-crafted “invitation” to your presentation.
Sales presentation training specialists recommend inviting your audience in a way
that sets the tone for what you have to say.
If
you communicate ahead of time, you have an opportunity to give them a positive
first impression, one you can control. Let them know what you will cover and be
sure to include “what’s in it for them.” Make the communication short and to
the point so your audience will:
1.
Know
what to expect
2.
Understand
why they should attend
3.
Feel
assured you will not waste their time
Once
you are actually in front of them, be sure to maintain the tone you set earlier.
If you are describing your product or service, be upbeat and confident. This is
what your earlier communication led them to expect and will be consistent with
the impression you want to make.
